Spades is a trick-based game with trumps. The winner must be the first to score 500 points accumulated over several deals. Points are scored mainly for tricks taking during the play. In two players Spades a standard 52 card pack is used. Cards ranks A(high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2(low). Spades are always trumps.

In opposite to the regular Spades game there is no deal in two-player Spades: the deck is placed face-down and both players take turns to draw cards. A player draws the top card, looks at it (not showing to opponent) and decide whether he/she wants to keep it. If a player wants to keep this first card he has to you put it in his hand and draw the next card, which he looks at and must then discard face down. If a player decides not to keep the first card he discards it face down and then draws the next card to put in his/her hand.

Do you know, that Microsoft Zone (MS Zone) has discontinued its online Cribbage this June? But if you like this game you can play cribbage online at rubl.com. For those who are new to Rubl.com multi-player games we publish a help picture - how to start cribbage games.
This help picture can be used also for new Gin-Rummy, Backgammon, Canasta, Dominoes, Chess and Checkers players.

There are two main lists in the lobby of each gaming room - here for example is a Cribbage Main Hall room. The topmost list shows all available cribbage tables. Some of them have already both players and can be only watched (though money games cannot be watched) - select this row and press "Watch Table" or double-click on this row. Tables, that has the only player - Dealer or Pone are open for you to join - select this row and press "Join Table" or double-click on this row. If you want to create your own table just press "Create Table" button, accept default options or select your own and press "ok" in the new Options dialog. This way your table will appear in the list and other players can join it to play.
The left bottom list shows all players in the cribbage room. Money players are shown in the blue color with the "$" sign before their names. This list is also used for personal messages - if you want to send a chat message to a certain player just select his or her name from this list, type your message in the chat field (right-bottom) and press "Send" button
Go to Cribbage page, select "play cribbage online" enter your name and password and then press "Main Hall" link from Cribbage room page.

The tables icons now appear in the table list. The players icons now appear in all player lists, including invitation list. This new feature is related to all multiplayer games: Gin-Rummy, Backgammon, Cribbage, Dominoes, Canasta, Pool, Chess and Checkers. We hope, that these images would help the newcomers to adjust to the site and understand what's going on and which table is free to join.
Some old timers have described the new tables/people icons as 'cute'. We understand that tastes differ and tried to make the new dynamic icons as tiny and unobtrusive as possible so that they occupy the smallest possible portion of the table listings screen and so that they do not interfere with the overall lobby view.

Tri Peaks or Tri Pyramids Solitaire is a popular solitaire game, combining elements of Pyramid Solitaire and Golf Solitaire. Tri Peaks Solitaire has a great scoring system, which really encourages you to keep playing, trying to get a better score.
The aim of Tri Peaks Solitaire is to move all the cards from the table to the discard, at the same time as maximizing your score. You can drop open cards, that one value above or below the top card on your discard pile ignoring suits, also a King can be moved onto an Ace, and vice-versa. For example, if discard is Ten and you have Jack open you can drop it. To maximize your score in Tri Peaks Solitaire, try to form long sequences of moves. The first removed card in one sequence gives you 10 points, the second one gives 20 points, then 30 points and so on. If you open a card from the stock this sequense starts from 10 again. You have one wild card (Joker) for all deals - it can be used to drop any card on it.

Rubl.com announces a new option in its Cribbage games - Manual Scoring Cribbage.
This option is useful for professional Cribbage tournament players, because it makes online tournaments closer to the real tournaments. It can be used also for the novice players to help them better understand cribbage scoring and combinations.
With 'Manual Scoring' table option selected, both players are forced to count their points during a play and their hands during show-of-cards. If you undercount points - it's your loss - you will only get the points corresponding to your manual count. The board will show your 'Shortage points' along with computer-scored points. If you overcount your points - the server will catch the error and the extra points will be added to your opponent's score. The board will show your 'Excess points' along with computer-scored points.

Buckman is a Pacman-style game - a classic arcade game, its object is to earn points by having your BuckMan eat as many yellow dots and bonus Dollars as possible while avoiding the Red Spiders. Eating bigger yellow "power pills" in the corners of the board turns Spiders Green and edible by BuckMan for a while. You use the 4 arrow keys on your keyboard to change direction of BuckMan. As you move along, you eat the yellow dots. When all the yellow dots on a level are eaten, you move to the next level. Try getting the rotating Bonus Dollars when they appear. When pursued by Red Spiders, have your BuckMan eat the Power Pill -- a bigger yellow dot initially located in each of the corners of the board. After consuming the Power Pill, the Spiders will turn green for a while. Green Spiders will try to run away from BuckMan and BuckMan will be able to outrun the Spiders while they are Green.

Cribbage is traditionally supposed to have been invented in the early 17th Century, the initial game was exactly Five Card Cribbage, that has been now almost entirely replaced by the modern Six Card Cribbage.
Rubl.com had 6-card Cribbage game before, now we introduce 5-card Cribbage, that is still popular in England.
Five card Cribbage rules
Two players using a standard 52 card pack. Cards rank K(high) Q J 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 A(low).
The object of the game is to be the first to score 61 points accumulated over several deals. Points are scored for combinations of cards like they are scored in 6-card cribbage. The pone player gets 3 points for "last" as compensation on the first deal. In Five Card Cribbage the hand is played up to 31 only once and one or both players may have unplayed cards at the end of the play.

Darts online - 501 game

The object of Darts game is to count down from the starting number of 501 to exactly zero.
When a player throws rounds of three darts, the sum of those darts gets subtracted from the starting number.
The dart throw is made by a single mouse pressing and releasing.
To throw the 'shaking' dart, first stop it in the desired location by pressing the left mouse button.
To increase the power of the throw, hold down the left mouse button longer before releasing it. Power indicator will show the power of the throw.
Each dart is scored by the number of the sector it lands on the target. The thin outer ring doubles these points, the inner ring triples them.
Hitting the center ( the smallest black circle) gives 50 points, while hitting the small red circular area around the center gives 25 points.
This implementation of Darts game is a single-player game, players compete for the highest score in the currently open tournament, the winner of the tournament wins the cash prize.

Game implementation features: offscreen image buffering for the whole game screen, a separate thread for the moving and the flying dart, special score count, double-checking the score on client and on server.

Pool-rush: single-player billiard game

Pool Rush is a single-player billiard-style game of skill with very simple rules. A player needs to score as many points as possible by dropping balls into pockets.
The faster the table gets cleared of balls, the more points the player earns.

Pool Rush features 2 rounds or levels. There are nine numbered balls (1-9) in the first round and fifteen balls in the second round.
With each shot, the cue ball must first contact the lowest numbered ball on the table or it is a foul.
Sinking a single ball gives +35pt, sinking more than one ball in a row +35pt for each ball. The Bonus pocket doubles the points, a single foul -30pt.

As in other arcade-style single-player games, you can play Pool Rush for money in arcade cash tournaments.

The object of the 8-Ball Pool game is for one player to pocket their set of assigned balls 1-7 (solids) or 9-15 (stripes), and then to legally pocket the 8-ball. Read pool eight-ball rules on the site Rubl.com games.

9-ball is played with nine balls numbered 1-9 plus the cue ball. With each shot the cue ball must first contact the lowest ball on the table or it is a foul. A player's turn continues until the player misses, fouls, or wins the game by sinking the 9-ball. After a missed shot, the other player must shoot the ball from where it lies unless a foul has occurred, in which case the player has ball in hand. Players are not required to call any shots, including the 9-ball. The game ends when a player legally sinks the 9-ball or when a player fouls out.

This is a first record about creating java browser-based games for www.rubl.com.

There are several multiplayer games (actually two-player games now), like gin-rummy, cribbage, backgammon, dominoes, chess, checkers - popular two-player card and board games. Java clients connect to the gaming server - a multithreaded application, each gaming server visually corresponds to one gaming room. Players can play for free or set different stakes for a game and wait for opponent. There is a support for tournaments, different tournament schemes etc.
The other type of games is so called arcade games, though it can be not only arcade, but card or tile games. The main difference - thy are not multiplayer games, but single player games, players participate in automatically open tournaments, reach some score during certain time and then the winner is selected according to the best score among all the players from this tournament. The games are solitaire, freecell, poker-rush (like video-poker), lines (popular russian games), rush-21 (skill based variation of black-jack game with some math background), pharaoh's treasure (collapse-like game), mahjong or mahjongg solitaire.
